Job Summary
Respond to emergency calls to provide immediate care to critically ill and injured patients, assess clinical conditions, and administer medications, oxygen, and IV lines per Standard Operating Procedures and Medical Director advisement. Maintain a clean, safe working environment, monitor stock supplies, and complete written Patient Care Reports with pertinent observations and outcomes. Work alone or instruct laypersons during emergencies while adhering to National and State EMS Commission standards and protecting patient privacy. Adapt to high and low service activity levels in a stressful environment.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED Equivalent
- Certified Paramedic
- State of Indiana National Registry Paramedic
- National Registry Paramedic
- CPR- (AHA/BLS) Healthcare Provider
- ACLS
- Meets mental and physical requirements of the job
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to relate appropriately to patients, co-workers, clients, and public
- Follow directions and performs assignments in a prompt, efficient manner
- Ability to adapt to period of high service activity and stressful environment, as well as, periods of low activity
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide tasks appropriate to the infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient during an emergency
- Ability to assess need for and perform CPR
- Demonstrates knowledge of procedures for protecting and maintaining security, confidentiality and integrity of employee, patient, family, organizational and other medical information
- Understands and supports the commitment of Methodist Hospitals in adhering to federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations governing ethical business practices for healthcare providers
