Job Summary
Conduct emergency patient care in a 38-bed ED, performing EKGs, IV/IO starts, blood draws, Foley catheterizations, and medication administration including nebulizers and push meds. Assess neurological, respiratory, cardiac, and trauma systems; monitor for arrhythmias and report changes to the charge nurse. Transport patients to other departments and collaborate with RNs, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams on acuity-based assignments. Maintain proficiency in BLS, ACLS, and PALS protocols. Work full-time days in a primary stroke and STEMI facility with helicopter access.
Required Qualifications
- H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- 1 year of experience as a Paramedic
- BCLS - Basic Life Support BLS Certification
- ACLS
- PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support
- Current certification as a Paramedic in the State of Georgia
- Working knowledge of intramuscular, sublingual, oral, rectal, nebulizers, intravenous, and intravenous push medications
- Working knowledge of venous blood sampling
- Working knowledge of cardiac monitor knowledge
- Working knowledge of the body's systems to include neurological, respiratory, cardiac, gastrointestinal, primary and secondary trauma assessment
- Strong customer service, interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with a team
- Skill and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in-writing
- Skill and ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines
- Ability to work as a member of a team
- Skill and ability in Microsoft Office applications
- Skill and ability to perform EKG's
- Skill and ability to perform Foley catheters
- Skill and ability to start IV'S, IO'S & draw blood
- Skill and ability to transport patients to other departments
- Skill and ability to monitor patients for arrhythmias and report abnormal rhythms and changes immediately to Charge Nurse and Nurse
Desired Qualifications
- NIH highly preferred, must obtain within allotted timeframe
- LP - Licensed Paramedic
- National Registry
