Job Summary
Provide safe and efficient response, treatment, and transportation of all persons requesting or requiring emergent or non-emergent medical services. Deliver quality patient care in accordance with clinical policies, statewide protocol, and standards of care while operating the ambulance in accordance with safety rules and regulations. Perform complex prehospital care including inserting IV lines, administering medications, and monitoring electrocardiograms (EKGs). Complete an ambulance and medical equipment checklist at the beginning of each assigned shift, inspect and clean the assigned ambulance, and submit all documentation/paperwork PCR requirements daily. Maintain knowledge of and comply with all company policies, procedures, and guidelines while performing daily housekeeping duties at assigned bases of operation.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Current valid driver's license
- Current Massachusetts Paramedic Certification
- National Registry Paramedic Certification
- Current CPR and ACLS Certification
- Minimum of 1-3 years of prior working EMT B or A experience
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions
- Strong Organizational Skills
- Analytical skills to gather and interpret data in various situations and settings
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion while working in a stressful environment
- Ability to identify and provide practical solutions to solve problems and conflicts
- Commitment to provide exemplary customer service, maintaining professional and courteous interactions at all times
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Ability to meet the essential duties and physical, mental and sensory requirements of the position at all times
- Comply with UDS drug screening at any and all times
- Satisfactory background check and MA CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information), verification required annually
- Verification of an acceptable motor vehicle driving record, verification required annually
- Ability to lift and maneuver 125+ pounds with assistance and without difficulty
- Ability to ascend/descend stairs repeatedly and the ability to lift and carry 125+ pounds up and down stairs
- Ability to frequently use fingers, hands and arms to reach, handle and/or operate equipment, objects, tools or controls
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
- Ability to walk without difficulty and without affecting the immediate performance of job-related duties
- Ability to bend, stoop and crawl as necessary
- Ability to occasionally work in low light and confined spaces
- Ability to work within a mobile environment
- Ability to work within a mobile environment
- Ability to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid and dry conditions
- Ability to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials
Desired Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher
- Experience with computer systems, including web-based applications and some Microsoft Office applications
