Job Summary
Assess and provide advanced medical care using defibrillators, EKG monitors, and intravenous fluids while driving the ambulance to minimize response times. Continuously maintain certifications, monitor the unit's condition, and document patient care and billing activities. Communicate with dispatchers to receive call data and determine transportation destinations based on patient status and insurance preferences. Work collaboratively with allied health personnel and be prepared to work past scheduled shifts with little notice. Maintain physical stamina to lift, carry, and balance equipment during calls.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Current state Paramedic License
- Valid State Driver's License
- Current BCLS, ACLS, PALS or PEPP, BTLS or PHTLS Provider Certification (where applicable or required by contract)
- Driving record in compliance with AMR Safety and Driving policy
- Ability to successfully pass Physical Agility Test
- Good physical stamina, endurance, and body condition that would not be adversely affected by frequently having to walk, stand, lift, carry, and balance at times
- Ability to lift, drag, hoist, and carry different types of equipment and other objects
- Ability to work past scheduled shift with little or no notice
