Job Summary
Respond to all emergency calls for the Grand Forks region, providing coverage for special functions like races and sporting events. Perform and document assessments including vital signs, IVs, and blood sugars, while assisting RNs in the Emergency Room with triage and critical patient care. Transport patients to internal departments at Altru and to Fargo, Minneapolis, and Rochester, including as a member of the NICU transport team. Maintain equipment and vehicles, demonstrate safe driving habits, and create a smooth transition of care with First Responders. Works in a cohesive team with First Responders, provides feedback and follow-up as necessary, and identifies patient and family needs through counseling.
Required Qualifications
- Paramedic certification from North Dakota Department of Health- Division of Emergency Medical Systems prior to start date
- Paramedic certification from Minnesota Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board within 1 month of start date
- Paramedic certification from National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians prior to start date
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
- Current state licensed driver's license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association (AHA) prior to start date
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from American Heart Association (AHA) within 90 days of start date
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from American Heart Association (AHA) within 90 days of start date
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English
Desired Qualifications
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
