Job Summary
Paramedic-based Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at BioLife Plasma Services reports to the Center Manager and participates in donor eligibility determinations, adverse event management, and lab-result reviews to determine donor suitability. Responsibilities include handling informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interviews, physical exams, blood testing review (SPE), donor safety and appropriate donor transport in emergencies, following center SOPs, and coordinating with the Center Physician and Medical Affairs for medical or technical guidance. The role supports Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees and may involve coordinating with EHS, occupational health, and pandemic investigations when authorized.Qualifications emphasize state licensure/certification, CPR/AED, basic IV therapy, FDA training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist, and at least two years of clinical/hospital experience.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate equivalent of recognized educational nursing program with state requirements (RN/paramedic) or EMT-Paramedic licensure/certification
- Current CPR and AED certification
- In-state basic IV therapy requirements
- Satisfactorily complete FDA-approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting
