Job Summary
Paralegal supports the Legal Counsel in Department litigation, conducts legal research, prepares affidavits and legal documents, responds to discovery, coordinates subpoenas and documentation, and acts as liaison for ongoing litigations. Responsibilities include preparing briefs, pleadings, appeals and contracts for review, researching statutes and case law (including Indiana Code and Indiana Administrative Code), organizing and filing original documents, handling Public Records Requests and expungement orders, coordinating training hours, and serving on interview committees. Additional duties involve ensuring legal volumes are up to date, indexing and record-keeping, answering phones for Legal Office personnel, and assisting with certification and legislative liaison tasks.
