Paralegal – Serious Injury (Gold/Platinum - Manchester)

Job Summary
Progress files in line with KPI targets and assist the fee earner on diverse multi-track cases ranging from RTA to EL, PL & OL matters. Liaise with clients, experts, barristers, third-party solicitors, insurers, and police to manage pre- and post-issue procedures. Draft statements of case, witness statements, application notices, and pleadings while preparing trial bundles and accurate file notes. Research points of law regarding liability and quantum, conduct telephone negotiations, and attend court, joint settlement meetings, and case management conferences, including occasional overnight stays. Maintain case plans and summaries with a proactive approach to ensure timely progression and maximise damages.
Required Qualifications
- Good researching and drafting skills
- Sound base knowledge of the law surrounding serious injury and court procedure
- Good attention to detail, with file management and organisational skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to adapt to the needs of a diverse environment and able to quickly analyse complex information in order to make reasoned decisions
- IT competent
- Excellent time management
- Previous experience of working in a personal injury department
- Must be flexible in working hours and able to travel
- Previous legal work experience in the PI field
- Willingness to work with other teams across the business
- Willingness to engage in networking and marketing events
- Buddying new members of the team to help with development
- Driving licence
Desired Qualifications
- A law degree or a Graduate Diploma in Law, or a desire to gain legal qualifications via CILEX, paralegal apprenticeship or the SQE routes
- Previous legal work experience in the PI field on cases in excess of £500,000
