Paralegal – Serious Injury (Bronze - Southport)

Job Summary
Progress files for serious injury cases involving RTA, EL, PL & OL matters to ensure timely progression and maximized damages. Draft statements of case, witness statements, pleadings, and instructions while researching points of law on liability and quantum. Liaise with clients, experts, barristers, insurers, and police as directed, and assist with telephone negotiations and case management conferences. Prepare trial bundles, costs instructions sheets, and disbursement lists, maintaining accurate file notes and case plans. Attend court, joint settlement meetings, and conferences with or without counsel to pursue cases to conclusion. Maintain excellent client care standards across a diverse caseload.
Required Qualifications
- Good researching and drafting skills
- Sound base knowledge of the law surrounding serious injury and court procedure
- Good attention to detail, with file management and organisational skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to adapt to the needs of a diverse environment and able to quickly analyse complex information in order to make reasoned decisions
- IT competent
- Excellent time management and organisation skills
- Must be flexible in working hours and able to travel
- Previous legal work experience in the PI field
- Willingness to work with other teams across the business
- Willingness to engage in networking and marketing events
- Buddying new members of the team to help with development
- Driving licence
Desired Qualifications
- Preferably previous experience of working in a personal injury department
- A law degree or a Graduate Diploma in Law, or a desire to gain legal qualifications via CILEX, paralegal apprenticeship or the SQE routes
