Paralegal - Property Coverage & Liability (Complex)

Job Summary
Manage property insurance claims, including pursuing and defending subrogated liability actions, business interruption claims, and policy coverage disputes. Conduct preliminary investigations, gather evidence, obtain witness statements, and secure technical expert evidence to prove causation. Handle your own caseload of litigated and pre-litigated files while updating case management systems and ensuring client protocol compliance. Assist other lawyers on task-based assignments and contact relevant parties for contractual documentation. Meet internal targets for time recording and billing while maintaining strict data security protocols. This role sits within the Property Insurance team in Birmingham, offering flexibility and a well-rounded remuneration package with opportunities for professional funding and growth.
Required Qualifications
- 5 times a week during your probation
- Birmingham
- Permanent position
- Previous relevant legal experience
- Knowledge of the litigation process
- Good working knowledge of general contract and tortious principles
- Ability to adopt a commercial perspective rather than an 'academic' approach to claims settlement
- Demonstrates alignment with the Firm's Cultural Principles (Clear, Creative, Determined and Supportive)
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in a wide range of sectors including construction, commercial product failure, household, and agriculture
- On behalf of insurers and their policyholders
- Interest in and willing to learn insurance-based property damage law
- Interest in and willing to learn the technical aspects of construction and property claims investigations as required for the role
- Internally, we are happy to support applications from apprentices who are keen to gain experience in another area of law
- LPC/SQE or CILEx
