Job Summary
Manage workers' compensation claims from initial injury through closure, coordinating with attorneys, insurance carriers, TPAs, medical providers, and government agencies. Attend hearings, mediations, and depositions as the company representative, preparing evidence, witness statements, and management reports. Assist with employment investigations, drafting legal correspondence, and supporting compliance with California regulations. Monitor claim reserves, identify fraud or subrogation opportunities, and coordinate return-to-work programs. Maintain confidential legal databases and litigation calendars while tracking deadlines. Travel locally to attend proceedings and occasionally lift up to 20 pounds. This role supports ES Management Inc.'s legal and administrative functions across litigation management and regulatory compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of paralegal experience
- Associate or bachelor's degree
- Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved or accredited program
- Experience in workers' compensation, employment law, or labor law
- Experience representing employers in workers' compensation matters
- Knowledge of California Workers' Compensation laws and procedures
- Experience working with insurance carriers, TPAs, and defense counsel
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software
- Strong understanding of workers' compensation claims administration
- Knowledge of employment law and HR compliance
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to analyze legal documents and summarize complex information
- Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines
- Professional demeanor when interacting with attorneys, government agencies, and employees
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
- Ability to travel locally to attend workers' compensation hearings, mediations, and legal proceedings
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally
Desired Qualifications
