Job Summary
Paralegal in Legal Aid Chicago’s Medical-Legal Partnerships supports public benefits advocacy within healthcare settings. Responsibilities include interviewing and screening referred applicants by phone or on-site, maintaining an individual caseload under attorney supervision, attending team meetings, training, and collaborating with medical partners to support the MLP service model. Duties also cover maintaining accurate case files and timekeeping, providing litigation support for attorneys, contributing to grant reporting and program administration, and engaging in community outreach and training for healthcare partners and community members. Required skills include strong oral and written communication, strong organizational abilities, and the capacity to work independently and collaboratively; Spanish proficiency is a plus. The role involves travel to hospitals and may include travel for court or educational or outreach events, with a hybrid work environment at the downtown Chicago office.
