Paralegal to join the Appellate Court Services Division in Salem, Oregon. Key duties include evaluating and processing complex filings for the Court of Appeals, creating and posting new cases, reviewing filings for timeliness, verifying jurisdiction, ensuring accurate case titles and proper service, and confirming fees. Responsibilities also include drafting orders and memos for judges and the Appellate Commissioner, referring cases to the Appellate Settlement Conference Program, preparing fee-waiver deferrals and denial orders, routing motions and responses, answering detailed inquiries about appellate procedures, and assisting judicial staff and the Appellate Commissioner’s office at the counter, over the phone, and in writing. Additional paralegal tasks may include analyzing motions and briefs, preparing appellate opinions, arranging calendars, identifying past-due filings, and processing orders. The role entails a full-time schedule with potential hybrid work after a 12-month probationary period, with in-person attendance for training and office events as needed.
