Job Summary
Paralegal in the Street Safety Bureau handling discovery liaison, subpoenas preparation, and DMV coordination for driving- and vehicular-crimes prosecutions. Responsibilities include liaison with Highway 2 personnel to obtain discovery, maintaining records for ADAs, preparing subpoenas for witnesses and Grand Jury/trial, collaborating with law enforcement to support ongoing investigations, coordinating DMV paperwork (abstracts, DMV hearing minutes, driver applications), identifying VTL 511 cases, and updating the case-management system. Requires strong attention to detail, discretion and confidentiality, and proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, Lexis-Nexis, and internet research, with experience using the office Case Management System, E-Justice portal, Case Monitor, and OCA. Education/experience options include a baccalaureate degree, an associate degree with 2–4 years of paralegal experience, or a recognized ABA-approved paralegal certification. Required Qualifications
- High school graduation or equivalent
- three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above
- Education and/or experience equivalent to one above
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or
- An associate degree and two to four years of full-time satisfactory work experience in the performance of paralegal (legal assistant) services
- A Paralegal Certification from a program approved by the American Bar Association
