Job Summary
Review and electronically file pleadings, motion papers, and other documents with New York State and federal courts, as well as administrative agencies. Track and manage deadlines for education-related matters including grievances, disciplinary hearings, FOIL requests, and board of education meetings. Assist in document and discovery management, conduct investigative and research work, and coordinate with clients for document collection, signatures, scheduling, and follow-up. Monitor court dockets, manage attorney calendars, and prepare exhibits for hearings. Handle file processing from open to close and perform filing, scanning, and other administrative tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a legal assistant or paralegal
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
- In-depth working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to prioritize and complete multiple assignments in an accurate and timely manner
- Reliable, punctual, and professional
- Team player with a positive attitude
- Strong typing and transcription experience
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience in education law, labor/employment, or litigation
- An associate or bachelor's degree
