Job Summary
Coordinate activities and perform specialized duties to assist in providing instruction to and supervision of students in various instructional and non-instructional programs, including ELL/Migrant Instruction, Health Room, Computer Lab, and Special Education Resource support. Work as part of the teaching team following lesson plans, help prepare teaching materials, and assist teachers in supervisory tasks, administering tests, and evaluating student work. Demonstrate proficiency in communicating with people, helping students develop English language skills, and implementing detailed behavior management plans with appropriate de-escalation techniques. Observe and record student behavior and academic performance while maintaining confidentiality of student records and enforcing school and district policies. Maintain a district assigned email account, read and respond to messages daily, and exercise good judgment to maintain a harmonious atmosphere in common areas.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 72 college level credits from an institution of higher education, a college degree, or ability to pass the Educational Testing Service (ETS) Assessment
- Must be willing to move to other district locations and/or have hours and/or duties reassigned as enrollment and program needs change
- Must be willing and able to assist students with personal management, including toileting, eating, and other personal hygiene
- Criminal history clearance through Washington State Patrol and FBI
- Within the first year of employment, successfully complete the Washington State Fundamental Course of Study for Paraeducators provided by the District, as defined in RCW 28A.413.070, and continue to meet future requirements as mandated by the State
