Job Summary
Provide instructional support under supervision of special education teachers for students with high-incidence disabilities, reinforcing material and skills through individual or small group work. Assist students with social-emotional needs, behavioral plans, and personal hygiene, while actively supervising safety during activities, drills, and field trips. Maintain orderly classrooms and alert teachers to student concerns or special information. Perform duties as assigned to support overall district objectives.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Associate's Degree or 60 semester hours from an accredited university, or satisfactory results on an AZ state-approved competency exam (parapro exam is administered by district at no cost to employee)
- CPR/First Aid (certification provided)
- Ability to operate standard office equipment, including a computer and related software
- Satisfactory criminal background check
- Ability to exert 10-30 lbs. of force, to lift, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
- Manual dexterity to operate business-related equipment
- Vision and hearing are adequate to exercise job responsibilities in a safe manner
- Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, stand, walk, and sit
- Requires the ability to speak, hear, and see (with correction) to perform essential job functions
- Occasionally: Lift or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Frequently: Lift or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds
- Constantly: Lift or move objects weighing up to 10 pounds
