Job Summary
Provide instructional support under supervision of special education teachers, reinforcing academic, physical, and emotional needs for students with mild to moderate disabilities via one-on-one or small-group instruction. Safely lift and transfer students, assisting with personal care needs such as toileting, feeding, and tube feeding while administering basic first aid and emergency medications. Implement behavioral plans to foster positive behaviors and supervise students during school activities, reporting any concerns regarding substance use or safety. Assist with assessments, data collection, and required meetings, and translate for students, parents, and staff when necessary. Maintain a quiet classroom environment and operate instructional equipment in compliance with district policies.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- CPR/First Aid (certification provided)
- Ability to operate standard office equipment, including a computer and related software
- Satisfactory criminal background check
- Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, stand, walk, and sit
- Ability to speak, hear, and see (with correction) to perform essential job functions
- Occasionally: Lift or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Frequently: Lift or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds
- Constantly: Lift or move objects weighing up to 10 pounds
