Job Summary
Paraeducator in Special Education (Grades K-4) supports classroom learning under the supervision of the teacher. Responsibilities include assisting with creating safe, nurturing, developmentally appropriate environments; collaborating on plans and curriculum activities; preparing and maintaining classroom materials; participating in staff activities and meetings; observing and supporting individual student goals; ensuring inclusivity of diverse cultural backgrounds; planning and documenting curriculum activities across physical, emotional, cognitive, and social domains; facilitating parent involvement; and addressing students’ physical needs (including diapering). Requires an Associate Degree or 60 college credits and adherence to health and safety guidelines; 10-month work year under Local 3429, Board of Education, New Haven.
