Job Summary
Provide instruction under supervision in special education environments or as required by individualized education plans (IEP). Reinforce material through one-on-one or small-group instruction while assisting with academic, physical, and emotional needs. Deliver personal care and medical assistance, including activities of daily living, administering basic first aid, and emergency rescue medications. Implement behavioral plans to modify student behaviors and maintain a positive classroom environment, supervising students during school activities. Facilitate communication by translating between parents, students, and staff when necessary. Assist with assessments, data collection, and participation in meetings under certified teacher supervision. Maintain a quiet and orderly classroom while operating instructional equipment safely.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associate's degree or 60 semester hours from an accredited university
- Satisfactory results on an AZ state-approved competency exam
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Ability to operate standard office equipment, including a computer and related software
- Satisfactory criminal background check
- Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, stand, walk, and sit
- Ability to speak, hear, and see (with correction)
- Ability to lift or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to lift or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds frequently
- Ability to lift or move objects weighing up to 10 pounds constantly
- Ability to respond to all internal and external customers in a prompt, efficient, friendly, and patient manner
- Ability to function effectively as a team member
- Ability to be responsible, reliable, and punctual
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to change
- Ability to positively accept direction
- Ability to establish and maintain courteous, cooperative working relationships with students, staff, and parents
