Job Summary
Paraeducator provides instruction under the supervision of the special education teacher in a special education environment or as required by an IEP; supports students with social needs similar to those identified with autism spectrum disorder; reinforces material through one-on-one or small-group instruction; assists with activities of daily living and basic first aid; translates between parents, students, and staff; supports social-emotional development; helps implement behavioral plans to support positive behaviors; assists with assessments and data collection under teacher supervision; maintains a quiet, orderly classroom and collaborates with staff to ensure student well-being and safety.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associate's degree or 60 semester hours from an accredited university, or satisfactory results on an AZ state-approved competency exam
- CPR/First Aid (certification provided)
- Satisfactory criminal background check
- Ability to operate standard office equipment
