Assist certificated teachers in providing instruction to limited- or non-English-speaking students within a classroom or learning environment; tutor students individually or in small groups; prepare instructional materials and perform general clerical tasks in support of learning activities. Duties include translating materials and interpreting for parents/students/teachers, administering and scoring language tests to determine English proficiency, maintaining instructional materials inventories, keeping attendance and grades records, and coordinating with the teacher on student progress. Work hours are 8:00 am–11:30 am on a 9-month schedule (3.5 hours per day); the position is part-time and located in Santee, California. Requires knowledge of English and a designated second language, ability to implement instructional techniques for limited-English-speaking students, and completion or progress toward NCLB-related certification (AA, 48 college units, or proficiency test).
