Job Summary
The Paraeducator Independence Facilitator (PIF) provides academic support, behavior intervention, and medical support to students in both special education and general education classrooms. Responsibilities also include assisting teachers in maintaining a productive classroom environment and supporting students during lunch and play. Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED and pass the San Diego Unified School District Classroom Assistant Proficiency Exam (CAPE), or have an Associate’s degree or equivalent coursework. Related education in Psychology, Early Childhood Development, or Special Education is desirable.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma/GED
- Passing score on the CAPE
- Associate's degree (or higher) or 48 or more eligible units of coursework

- Completion of post high school courses in Psychology
- Early Childhood Development
- Elementary Education
- Special Education or related field
