Job Summary

Support students individually and in small groups across general education, special education, and school settings to foster independence in academics, social skills, and functional routines. Prepare instructional materials, collect and record data, and provide support for hygienic and personal needs including feeding, bathroom assistance, and physical interventions. Implement behavior, medical, and safety protocols while maintaining confidentiality and accurate records. Work under the supervision of the Principal and direction of a licensed teacher to establish a positive learning climate.

Required Qualifications

  • AA/AS degree, 72 credits, Paraeducator Program or equivalent exam, BA/BS degree, or MA/MS degree
  • Ability to bend, lift, and move quickly
  • Positive attitude and warm personality
  • Growth Mindset
  • Belief that all students can learn and all students belong as part of their classroom & school community
  • Routinely lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and over 50 pounds with assistance
  • Complete all district required training

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or degree from an accredited paraprofessional program
  • Knowledge of instructional strategies to support a broad range of students, including students with disabilities
  • Knowledge of Business English, spelling, punctuation and mathematics
  • Knowledge of current office practices, procedures, keyboarding and equipment
  • Proficient use of computer technology
  • Ability to promote independence in students
  • Ability to provide individual and small group instruction under the direction of the licensed teacher
  • Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with students and fellow employees
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and collect data
  • Ability to implement behavior, medical, and safety protocols
  • Ability to appropriately respond to and direct students
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all phases of work, i.e. records, meetings, parent rights, etc.
