Job Summary
Paraeducator - English Language Development at Lakeland High School supports Multilingual Learner students by assisting with language development, administering WIDA screeners/assessments, and engaging families in alignment with district procedures. The role requires bilingual Spanish/English skills, certification testing or approved credentials, and an associate degree or equivalent coursework (60 hours) or ParaPro score. Responsibilities include supporting language development through hands-on and inquiry-based learning, collaborating with ELD staff, assisting with language access and family engagement, administering assessments, providing i-Ready support, and contributing to professional learning. Required Qualifications
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) required
- Certified interpreters/translators or willing to complete certification testing
- Associate's Degree, 60 hours of college credit, OR successful score on the ETS ParaPro Assessment
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written
- Experience working with Multilingual Learner (ML) students preferred
- Ability to work collaboratively with the ELD team and building staff to support student learning and success
- Ability to work effectively under the direction of ELD teacher, classroom teachers, administrators, and program coordinator
- Demonstrates initiative, flexibility, professionalism, and enthusiasm
- Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation as required by program guidelines
- Ability to support and educate families in collaboration with the ELD Coordinator, district staff, and established district procedures
- May be required to complete a skills assessment
- EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School diploma and/or related experience.
