Job Summary
Operate machines to refine pulp and shorten fibers as pulp flows through refining equipment; turn handwheels to adjust bedplate distance and rotor knives to achieve specified fiber fineness; start machines and pumps to regulate pulp flow from beater chests through refining machines to the paper machine chest; examine pulp and review laboratory test reports, then adjust machines to meet specifications; may change bedplates and rotor knives using handtools; may clean interior of storage chests using a water hose.
