Job Summary
Para II Autism paraeducator responsible for supervising, caring for, and instructing students with special needs in the regular classroom, resource room, or self-contained classroom; assist in implementing instructional plans, monitor student behavior, provide information to school personnel, and perform classroom clerical tasks. Adapts accommodations to activities/materials under teacher direction; assists students in and out of classrooms, supports personal care needs due to medical conditions or physical limitations, participates in meetings and trainings, collaborates with staff to support IEP goals, implements behavioral plans, and assists with a variety of instructional activities focused on meeting IEP goals. Requires the ability to operate standard office equipment, maintain records, and use crisis intervention techniques; must meet the stated qualifications including high school diploma or GED and Title I credit/assessment requirements. Strong emphasis on safety, teamwork, and supporting social and daily living skills for middle/high school students; position is non-exempt and typically full-time at Olathe Public Schools.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- 48 hours of college credit or ability to pass Title I assessment test
- Experience working with students with special needs preferred? (as stated: required)
