Job Summary
Para-Educator assists the teacher with instructional assistance, classroom management, supervising students, one-on-one and group instruction, data collection, recordkeeping (attendance, progress charts, lunch counts, emergency information, student files/records), and communication with students, staff, and administration. Responsibilities include monitoring and supervising classroom activities, helping with setup/cleanup for instruction, delivering instruction under teacher direction, supporting safety procedures, behavior management plans, and maintaining confidentiality of student information. Requires ability to read and understand instructions, communicate effectively with diverse populations, supervise students, work independently, and carry out clerical duties. Requires high school diploma or GED and completion of Para-Professional Assessment or equivalent training. Willingness to be trained in first aid and CPR, safety/security procedures, and behavior management. Travel to schools within the division may be required. Frequent standing/walking and lifting up to ~50 pounds may be required.
