Job Summary
Para Educator at Sunnyside School District (Harrison Middle School) to provide one-to-one and small group instructional support, supervise students inside and outside the classroom, and assist the teacher with instructional strategies, progress records, and student behavior management. Responsibilities include maintaining progress/attendance records, supporting classroom displays, assisting with lunch/bus/dismissal routines, and ensuring student confidentiality and safety. Requires high school diploma or GED, state assessment for para educators (or equivalent educational credentials), and background checks; bilingual preferred; position is full-time with duties across elementary to middle-school settings.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma, High School transcript, or GED
- Pass State Assessment for Para Educators; or Associate Degree or higher; or 72-quarter college credits or 48-semester credits at the one hundred level or higher; or Completed an apprenticeship as a para educator, in a program registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council.
- Valid Washington State Driver's license or photo identification.
- Social Security Card.
- WSP/FBI fingerprint/background clearance.
- Fundamental Course of Study or must obtain within first 4 months of employment.
Additional Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Must provide proof of high school diploma or GED.
