Job Summary
Assist the teacher with transporting students to and from the bus at the school site; assist students with personal hygiene needs (toileting, diapering, laundering, bathing, dressing) as directed; lift/carry/position students in classroom, therapy, and other areas as trained; prepare meals as directed; assist with first aid and use of medical equipment (e.g., tube feeding, catheterizations) as trained; provide care and supervision for students with disabilities under teacher direction; position students in wheelchairs and with medical equipment as trained; report necessary student information to teachers; participate in in-service and professional development; communicate professionally with students, staff and parents per instructor direction; assist with classroom management systems; support sign language or augmented communication needs under teacher direction; implement instructional activities (reading aloud, small group lessons, art, music, cooking) under teacher direction; perform light custodial duties related to safety and hygiene; assist with community-based instruction and training on and off campus; supervise student behavior with positive supports; participate in parent involvement activities (conferences) under teacher direction; perform other duties as assigned. Adapts to changes in the work environment; cooperates with others; depends on attendance and punctuality; maintains job knowledge; adheres to safety and security procedures.
