Paraprofessional 1, ESE assists the teacher and supports students with disabilities in the classroom and school setting. Responsibilities include aiding with daily schedules, helping students onto/off the bus, assisting with personal hygiene and feeding as directed, positioning students in wheelchairs or equipment, providing first aid and use of medical equipment as trained, supporting classroom management and instructional activities (reading aloud, small group lessons, art, music, cooking), implementing communication supports (sign language or augmentative communication), supervising student behavior with positive supports, coordinating with parents and staff, and performing light custodial duties related to safety and hygiene under the teacher's direction. This role involves collaborating with teachers, participating in professional development, and adapting to changing district needs.
