Panel Shop Manager

Job Summary

Lead a team of panel technicians and apprentices while planning daily production activities to meet project deadlines. Coordinate labor, materials, and tooling to maximize shop efficiency, overseeing the assembly, wiring, testing, and quality control of custom industrial control panels. Review electrical schematics and P&IDs for constructability, providing technical guidance on PLCs, VFDs, and instrumentation integration. Ensure compliance with UL 508A and UL121201 standards while driving continuous improvement initiatives for quality, productivity, and safety. Manage shop inventory and monitor labor efficiency to reduce costs. This hands-on leadership role supports a growing custom panel manufacturing operation in Midland, Texas, within a collaborative team focused on automation and integrated solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience in industrial control panel fabrication or electrical assembly
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a panel shop, electrical manufacturing, or industrial construction environment
  • Strong knowledge of industrial controls, PLC hardware, VFDs, instrumentation, and electrical systems
  • Working knowledge of UL 508A, UL121201
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and P&IDs
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and experience with production scheduling, inventory management, or ERP systems
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities
  • A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and employee development
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
  • Monday through Friday schedule with opportunities for overtime based on workload
  • Occasional lifting, standing, and work within a manufacturing environment

  • experience with hazardous location panels (UL 698A)
