Job Summary
PALS Teacher position in Tempe, AZ for Special Education Self Contained. Responsibilities include providing direct instruction based on each student’s IEP and Arizona State Standards, developing and monitoring IEPs, conferencing with regular classroom teachers, maintaining accurate records for district, state, and federal guidelines, participating in MET processes, attending necessary training, and supporting teachers and teams in Functional Behavioral Assessments and Positive Behavior Intervention Plans. The role involves parent communication, creating engaging classroom environments, flexible collaboration with staff, and complying with state laws and district policies related to child abuse and neglect. May involve behavior management responsibilities and requires ongoing professional development; qualifications include AZ Special Education Cross Categorical or AZ Special Education Teacher certification with ID/MR or ED, and a Master’s degree in Special Education (preferred). Certification in NCI, First Aid, and CPR is required, along with proficiency in district software and IEP systems.
Required Qualifications
- Arizona Special Education Cross Categorical Teacher certification
- Arizona Special Education Teacher certification with ID/MR or ED
- Master Degree in Special Education (preferred)
- Knowledge of special education laws, procedures, practices, materials, equipment, and compliance standards
- Ability to assess needs, develop and implement the IEP, and evaluate outcomes
- Ability to coordinate activities with related and specialist staff
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, parents and the community
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
- Maintain current NCI, First Aid, and CPR certification
- Computer proficiency in district designated software (Microsoft Office, MET, IEP software)
