Job Summary
Diagnose, treat, and manage pain and symptoms for patients with advanced life-threatening illnesses while prescribing therapeutic measures, including narcotics. Conduct history and physical examinations, review advance care directives, and establish goals of care through patient and family meetings. Provide psychosocial support, recommend non-pharmacological therapies, and collaborate with attending physicians, nursing staff, and medical professionals to optimize cost-effective plans of care. Submit billing and documentation according to policy while participating in team discussions to gain insight on patient care. Serve as an end-of-life care education resource within the organization and the community, pursuing educational opportunities to improve outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Master Degree in nursing
- current, active, and unrestricted license NC license as Registered Nurse (RN)
- official recognition as Nurse Practitioner from NC Board of Nursing
- Successful board certification in specialty within 2 years of date of hire
- current and unrestricted DEA
- Basic Life Support
- Computer proficiency
- Minimum 1 year related experience
- Experience in direct care of patients with life limiting illnesses
