Job Summary
Provide specialist palliative medical support and clinical leadership to the Health Specialist Palliative Care Service, including the Consultancy Team, Community Service, and Inpatient Unit. Lead MBS outpatient clinics and early access models while assuming clinical responsibility for patients under your care. Collaborate with other consultant physicians to set standards for high-quality, compassionate care and support junior medical staff and nurse practitioners. Participate in after-hours and weekend rosters to advise medical and nursing staff, and conduct regional community consultations in patients' homes and residential aged care facilities.
Required Qualifications
- Full unconditional registration with AHPRA as a Medical Practitioner
- Specialist in Specialist Palliative Care
- Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or equivalent
- Clinical experience working in Specialist Palliative Care
- Demonstrated ability to teach, mentor and inspire doctors in training
- Substantially Comparable via RACP SIMG may be considered for this role along with visa sponsorship

- Demonstrated leadership of and participation in quality improvement activities (including audits)
- Strong leadership and well developed communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with patients; their carers with respect and empathy
- Demonstrated ability to work with other staff including management, senior and junior medical staff, nursing staff and students in a respectful, supportive and co-operative manner
