Job Summary

Conduct specialist palliative medicine outpatient clinics and early access models for the Specialist Palliative Care Service, Inpatient Unit, and Community Specialist Palliative Care Service. Assume clinical responsibility for patients under care while collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to set high-quality standards and support junior staff. Provide regional community consultations in patients' homes, including RACFs, and participate in Bendigo Health after-hours and weekend rosters to advise medical and nursing staff. Mentor doctors in training and support Nurse Practitioners in clinical practice. Full unconditional AHPRA registration and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians are required.

Required Qualifications

  • Full unconditional registration with AHPRA as a Medical Practitioner
  • Specialist in Specialist Palliative Care
  • Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or equivalent
  • Clinical experience working in Specialist Palliative Care
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, mentor and inspire doctors in training

  • Demonstrated leadership of and participation in quality improvement activities (including audits)
  • Strong leadership and well developed communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with patients; their carers with respect and empathy
  • Demonstrated ability to work with other staff including management, senior and junior medical staff, nursing staff and students in a respectful, supportive and co-operative manner
