Job Summary
The Palliative Care Physician provides high-quality outpatient consultative and longitudinal care for cancer patients with complex pain and symptom burdens within the Jefferson Health/SKCCC system. The role collaborates with hematology/oncology teams, APPs, nursing, social work, chaplaincy, and pharmacy across NJ sites; conducts timely new patient consultations and follow-ups; supports goals-of-care conversations and advance care planning; participates in teaching medical students, residents, fellows, APPs, and nurses; contributes to clinical research and development of supportive oncology trials; pursues scholarly activity and quality-improvement initiatives; upholds professional standards and institutional citizenship; and participates in division-wide activities and meetings while traveling between sites as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
- Completion of residency in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Anesthesiology, Neurology, or related applicable specialty
- Subspecialty fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine (HPM) from an ACGME-accredited program — required
- Board certification or board eligibility in Hospice and Palliative Medicine (ABMS or AOA)
- Current and unrestricted medical licensure in New Jersey and Pennsylvania and DEA license or eligibility to obtain
- Experience 2 years of post-fellowship clinical experience in palliative medicine and/or supportive oncology — strongly preferred
