Job Summary
Assist the Medical Director of Palliative and Hospice Care as a comfort care/end-of-life resource for teaching, clinical, and administrative purposes. Support the Medical Director in comfort care consultation, education of physicians and staff, administration of projects, and development of clinical policies. Provide leadership in consultations, policy development, and adult medical education while communicating compassion and empathy to staff, patients, and families. Work within a multidisciplinary team under pressure with an aptitude for strategic planning and program development. Board eligibility and a medical license are required; fellowship in Palliative Care is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of four-year U.S. Medical School or equivalent
- Completion of a residency in an accredited residency program
- Board eligibility
- Medical License for the applicable state
Desired Qualifications
- four or more years of experience including experience in leadership of consultations, policy development, adult medical education and a fellowship in Palliative Care
- board certification and certification in palliative medicine
- Excellent communication skills with staff, patients and families, and colleagues
- Excellent documentation and organization (multi-tasking) skills
- Aptitude for strategic planning and program development
- Ability to communicate compassion and empathy
- Ability to motivate others to meet challenges and succeed
- Ability to act as a role model for well-being/self-care practices
- Ability to work well with multidisciplinary team under pressure
- Working knowledge of clinical ethics as it relates to end-of-life care
