Job Summary
Apply coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures throughout the district to maintain the physical school plant in operating excellence. Smooth and prepare surfaces by sanding and removing old paint, then fill nail holes, cracks, and joints with putty or plaster. Select and mix premixed paints or custom portions of pigment, oil, and thinning substances to match specified colors, applying finishes with brushes, spray guns, rollers, or fingers for special effects. Erect scaffolding or set up ladders to perform tasks above ground level, including taping, floating, and texturing walls and ceilings. Stripe fire lanes and parking lots while maintaining accurate records of materials and labor used. Inspect jobs upon completion, ensure work areas are clean, and handle chemicals according to established safety procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Texas driver's license
- Meet district vehicle driver eligibility requirement
- Minimum of seven (7) years of successful experience in painting, remodeling, maintenance and/or new construction

- Ability to maintain inventory of tools and assist with inventory control of materials and equipment
- Ability to inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean
- Ability to perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment
- Ability to ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition
- Ability to correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately
- Ability to work Monday through Thursday; 2:30 PM to 1:30 AM, with a one-hour lunch & two fifteen minute breaks
