Painter/Finisher - 2nd Shift

Job Summary
Operate overhead and jib cranes to maneuver large weldments into spray booths, while utilizing airless and conventional painting systems to apply industrial coatings to specified thickness. Perform abrasive blasting to remove scale and dirt, then use dual-action sanders and grinders to prepare surfaces for finishing. Rig large weldments safely with chains and shackles, and maintain the booth by stripping paper, replacing grating, and cleaning waste per EOA guidelines. Sweep the work area daily, visually inspect weldments for sagging or foreign matter, and repair deficiencies per accepted procedures. Record dry and wet film thickness readings on established charts and ensure all equipment is cleaned and stored properly. Work in any or all assigned areas during the second shift, wearing required PPE at all times.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- one to three months related experience and/or training
- equivalent combination of education and experience
- knowledge of metals
- knowledge of abrasive blasting
- knowledge of industrial coatings
- basic math
- ability to read and write
- ability to properly perform duties related to required paperwork
- ability to use or be capable of learning to use a computer to access blueprints, procedures and other job duty related information and communication
- ability to operate overhead cranes
- ability to operate Jib cranes
- ability to operate battery and Gas powered industrial trucks
- ability to operate hand trucks
- ability to operate abrasive shot blasting equipment
- ability to operate Airless paint spraying systems
- ability to operate Conventional paint spraying systems
- ability to operate plural component paint spraying systems
- ability to operate HVLP paint spraying systems
- ability to operate stud welding machines
- ability to operate air powered man lifts
- ability to operate a variety of hand tools from wrenches and drills
- ability to operate Dual Action sanders
- ability to operate mixing equipment
- skill in rigging large weldments safely with chains, shackles, hooks from spreader bars
- ability to operate Overhead Bridge cranes
- ability to lay modules down safely
- ability to use Dry Mil thickness gauges
- ability to visually inspect weldments for excessive sagging, runs, imbedded shot, foreign matter, light spots, ripples and other deficiencies
- ability to repair weldments in accordance with accepted practices and procedures
- ability to clean the booth through stripping of paper from the walls
- ability to remove and replace grating
- ability to scrape and recover lights
- ability to handle waste in accordance with EOA guidelines and generally accepted practices and procedures
- ability to sweep the area of assignment daily
- ability to maintain an orderly and safe work area
- ability to maintain set quality standards by use of visual checking and inspection equipment
- ability to wear proper PPE
- ability to ensure proper care, storage and usage of PPE
- ability to operate jib cranes and a variety of attachments
- ability to manually load and unload large weldments and individual parts
- ability to operate the Wheelabrator abrasive shot blasting machine
- ability to perform routine clean up and TPM of the Wheelabrator machine
- ability to record the EPA required data in regards dust collection
- ability to maintain and periodically empty and clean the dust collection system
- ability to operate a forklift safely
- ability to load and unload parts on and off the Wheelabrator
- ability to deliver parts and put them away at their point of use
- ability to use a battery powered barrel dumping system
- ability to lift and place module lifting devices up to 75 pounds
- ability to secure modules by using bolts and air impact guns and large ratchets and sockets
- ability to constantly walk up and down the machine to access the parts
- ability to utilize airless and conventional painting systems to apply a uniform coat with a variety of industrial coatings
- ability to obtain the required coverage and dry film thickness as specified
- ability to operate air powered mixing equipment included paddle mixers and shakers
- ability to utilize a wet millage gauge to ensure proper wet mil thickness
- ability to utilize measuring equipment to maintain proper paint viscosity when mixing 2 part coatings and adding thinner
