Painter Assistant

Job Summary
Spray surfaces of trucks, buses, vans or other vehicles assigned with protective or decorative material using a spray gun. Responsibilities include reviewing repair estimates for painting instructions and planning workflow, preparing surfaces (sanding, priming, masking), disassembling/reassembling components for access, operating air-powered sanding and grinding equipment, applying paint finishes with proper spray equipment, ensuring paint readiness, and adhering to safety standards to deliver a quality finish. Requires knowledge of paint mixing procedures and respirator systems, as well as maintaining proper tool storage and professional collaboration with team members. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- One year certificate from a fully accredited college or technical school
- Minimum of two years related experience and/or training
- Automotive/truck body painting
- Paint mixing
- Knowledge of respirator systems
- Disassemble and re-assemble of truck parts and accessories for access to painted surfaces
- Operate air operated sanding and grinding equipment
- Perform all taping and masking in a professional manner to insure a quality and acceptable finished product
- Ability to identify that surfaces are paint ready before applying paint products
