Job Summary
Manage all aspects of paint coating tasks on ships and non-nuclear components, from scoping to completion, while leading daily briefs and tracking progress in Microsoft Project. Coordinate with Resource Managers and ship personnel to define task boundaries, review drawings, inventory materials, and maintain Technical Work Instructions. Supervise workers applying and removing coatings, ensuring compliance with NAVSEA standards and safety procedures. Submit daily reports, Objective Quality Evidence, and Condition Reports to document issues, and provide technical training to lower-level technicians. Maintain HAZMAT records and communicate findings to Program Managers and government representatives.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of high school, trade, or industrial school
- Minimum of six years of experience in marine coatings and/or combination of marine and industrial coatings field
- 3 years of experience in the supervision of technical support for Alteration/SC installation, maintenance and repair of HM&E ship systems
- Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check
- Must possess advanced computer skills to enter data into different databases
- Basic math skills such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, division and fractions
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to communicate with OSIC and government officials
- Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, written technical instructions and manuals
- Must be able to read and understand material safety data sheets (MDS)
- Able to follow safety procedures
- May be required to travel for work to other locations
- Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check
Desired Qualifications
- C12, C7, C14 or NBPI certification preferred
- Experience in estimating blasting and maritime paint operations preferred
