Job Summary
The Paint & Stain Estimator evaluates residential and commercial painting and staining projects and prepares detailed, competitive cost estimates. Responsibilities include on-site and virtual assessments, measuring surfaces, evaluating scope (prep, repairs, finishes), calculating labor and materials, communicating with clients to align expectations and budgets, following up to close sales, recommending products and application methods, building client relationships, coordinating with project managers, tracking bids, staying updated on materials/pricing/trends, ensuring estimates comply with safety and local regulations, and assisting with project handoff to operations.
Required Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Previous experience in painting, staining, construction estimating, or a related field preferred
- Strong knowledge of interior and exterior painting and staining techniques, materials, and surface preparation
- Ability to read plans, perform accurate measurements, and calculate project costs
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficiency with estimating software and basic computer applications (e.g., Google Drive, CRM tools)
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines
- Sales experience or a customer-facing background is a plus
