Job Summary

Provide direct patient care and consultation for pain and symptom management across inpatient, outpatient, hospice, and emergency settings. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans and serve as a clinical resource for best practices. Teach and supervise medical students, residents, and fellows while mentoring staff in pain and palliative principles. Participate in clinical research, scholarly activities, and the development of clinical standards and quality improvement initiatives. Complete all clinical documentation, coding, and charge capture in compliance with CMS regulations and organizational policies.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Medicine
  • ECFMG certification
  • Board Certified in a primary specialty
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine
  • Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Hawaiʻi
  • Current CPR certification at the Healthcare Provider level

Desired Qualifications

  • Fellowship training in Hospice and Palliative Medicine from an accredited fellowship program
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pain Medicine
  • Demonstrated competence in both pain medicine and palliative medicine
  • Ability to maintain medical staff membership in good standing with appropriate clinical privileges
  • Qualified for faculty appointment at the University of Hawaiʻi John A. Burns School of Medicine
