Job Summary
Paid Relevant Person’s Representative (RPR) to provide advocacy across Islington and surrounding areas. You will stand alongside people deprived of liberty to uphold their rights, ensure their voices are heard, and keep the individuals’ wishes central to decisions about their care. The role involves visiting hospitals and care homes, representing individuals subject to DoLS, applying the Mental Capacity Act, challenging decisions when appropriate, and managing a caseload using a person-centred approach. You will work independently, collaborate with professionals and families, maintain accurate case records, produce high-quality reports, identify safeguarding concerns, and promote advocacy through awareness sessions and service development. The position requires travel across the local working area, strong written and verbal communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to empowering people to have their voices heard.
Required Qualifications
- A relevant advocacy qualification (Level 2, 3 or Level 4 Independent Advocacy Practice)
- Experience of working as an advocate or Paid RPR, including managing a caseload
- Solid understanding of advocacy principles, empowerment, and relevant legislation
- Ability to work independently while maintaining clear professional boundaries
- Strong communication skills, adaptable to a range of people and needs
- Confidence in writing clear, concise reports and maintaining accurate records
- Commitment to delivering inclusive, culturally appropriate support
- Ability to travel across your working area
