Job Summary
Facilitate hands-on STEM demonstrations, pop-ups, and lab activities for guests of all ages while adapting explanations to diverse age groups. Assist with developing, testing, and revising new public programming, including contributing ideas and feedback to the Public Programs team. Interact with visitors to support science communication and public engagement efforts. This paid, part-time internship runs for 10 weeks with 15–20 hours per week, available Wednesday through Sunday. You will report to the Manager, Public Programs and collaborate within the LSC Public Programs team.
Required Qualifications
- Pursuing an undergraduate degree in STEM or a 2026 graduate of a New Jersey college or university
- Interest in STEM education, informal learning, and public engagement
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate STEM concepts clearly and adapt explanations for audiences of different ages and backgrounds
- Some experience with teaching, activity development, public speaking, or working with the public
- Enthusiasm, creativity, initiative, and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations
- Must be available a minimum of two full days per week (10 a.m.–5 p.m.), between Wednesday and Sunday
- This position is on-site at Liberty Science Center
- The ability to lift 30 pounds is required
- While performing the duties of this job, on-site work requires the employee to stand for long periods while working with students or the public
