Job Summary
Shelves library materials, assists customers in locating items, handles returned materials via a mechanized sorter, sorts by collection and call number, performs shelf-reads and material movement to balance collections, retrieves materials from lists, assists with processing received materials, and participates in committees as required. Requires the ability to handle library materials in quantity, maintain safety and accessibility standards, and work flexible evenings/weekends at any RHPL location. Strong customer service, knowledge of Dewey Decimal Classification, and willingness to engage in back-of-house duties are essential.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Experience working in a public library setting an asset
- Vulnerable Sector Screening required
- Ability to work evenings and weekends
- Physical stamina to handle library materials in quantity
- Commitment to superior customer service
- Familiarity with Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) preferred
