Job Summary
Monitor post-operative vital signs, assess levels of consciousness, and observe patients for anesthesia side effects in the PACU. Administer pre-operative medications, start and monitor IVs, and perform pre-operative instruction and explanation of patient rights. Develop and implement patient care plans based on assessment data, while documenting physical and emotional status upon arrival and during recovery. Communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and co-workers, and respond to emergency situations with competence. Maintain order and cleanliness of pre/postoperative areas, and adhere to safety policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Must have a current nursing license to practice through the Iowa Department of Public Health
- Unrestricted IA RN license
- Maintain a basic ACLS Certification
- BLS
- Must be able to set priorities
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision
- Must be able to handle stress calmly
- Must be flexible to change
- Willingness to be flexible
- Must remain focused during fast paced schedules
- Excellent organization skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Must be fully vaccinated
- Must be willing to complete a full physical
- Must be willing to complete a drug screen
- Must be willing to complete a criminal background check
- Must be willing to complete federal background checks
- Must be willing to complete education verification
- Must be willing to complete reference checks
- Must be willing to complete an initial TB test
Desired Qualifications
- ACLS preferred
- PALS preferred
- Experience in a similar related industry or ASC is preferred
- Experience in Orthopedics is preferred
- Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally using a translator when necessary
