Job Summary

Receiving and filling prescription requests for corrections patients, employees, and public health clients while ensuring pharmaceutical processes align with policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements. Maintain proper storage and security for medications, clean and sterilize equipment, and manage inventory by ordering, labeling, and counting stock. Communicate effectively with clients and peers to resolve issues and notify management of critical information impacting patient care or vendor relations. Work evening shifts from 2pm to 11pm on a rotating schedule.

Required Qualifications

  • Must hold and maintain a current, unrestricted Pharmacy Technician certification issued by the Alabama Board of Pharmacy
  • Minimum of 1-year experience
  • Must complete sufficient hours of CEU to maintain technician license and technician certification
  • Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
  • Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
  • Willingness to complete departmental duties in other areas as needed
  • Willingness to complete special projects as needed from management
  • Willingness to work assigned schedule and mandatory overtime in peak times
  • Must be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Must be able to demonstrate professionalism by using objectivity, maintaining self-control when under pressure, separating professional from personal issues, displaying emotional maturity, maintaining a high degree of integrity, and promoting a positive work environment by setting an example
  • Must be able to Notify critical information to the next level of management that may have a negative impact on client and/or vendor relations or patient care

Desired Qualifications

  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) technician certification

Additional Requirements

  • Willingness to work assigned schedule and mandatory overtime during peak times
