Job Summary
Operate multi-function and single-function process control machinery to mix, blend, and package vegetable food products using control panels and computer terminals. Manage start-up and shut-down processes while troubleshooting equipment issues and adjusting processing variables like fill weight, flow rates, and temperature settings. Ensure compliance with quality assurance standards, Good Manufacturing Practices, and safety protocols, including participating in safety audits and emergency response initiatives. Maintain shift logs, record production data, and prepare equipment for maintenance. This rotating 8-hour shift (Monday–Friday) involves heavy lifting up to 32kg and works in a refrigerated, wet environment. Nortera Foods Inc. produces major private and retail brands such as Arctic Gardens and Del Monte.
Required Qualifications
- 1-3 years of prior machine operating experience
- Must be capable of speaking, reading, and writing English at a Level 3 requirement
- Must have a high level of mechanical aptitude
- Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve effectively
- Must be able to work in a refrigerated environment, wet, cold and soapy work areas
- Rotating 8-hour shifts (Monday–Friday), with a bi-weekly rotation between Days, Afternoons, and Nights open to on-call shifts including over-time
- This position is a heavy lifting capability role (lift up to 32kgs, multiple times as needed in a shift)
- Must be able to meet minimum dexterity requirements of this position: bending, twisting, reaching, lifting, crouching, kneeling, standing, walking, sitting, etc
- Specific vision abilities are required by this job to include close vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in a food processing environment is an asset
